The Birsay Outdoor Centre is situated in the northwest corner of Orkney mainland. The centre has been recently refurbished and offers comfortable accommodation, with all new furniture, beds and appliances. The centre is in close proximity to spectacular and varied coastline, scenery and beaches.

Excellent facilities

The Centre offers comfortable accommodation for up to 26 in 5 bedrooms. It is an ideal venue for outdoor education trips, weddings, workshops, clubs or family gatherings. It has a well equipped kitchen, dining area and small lounge, drying room, disabled access, and all bed linen is provided. There is a camp site in the extensive grounds with a level firm grassy site for touring caravans, motorhomes and tents.

The centre is close to a spectacular coastline including the RSPB reserve of Marwick Head. Amazing Archaeological History Nearby at the Brough of Birsay you can see the remains of early Christian and Norse settlements on a tidal island, The Centre is convenient for visiting Orkney’s 5,500 year old Neolithic Heartland (UNESCO World Heritage site), with the Ring of Brodgar, the Standing Stones of Stenness, the tomb of Maeshowe, and Skara Brae.

Orkney's 5,500 year old Neolithic Heartland was granted World Heritage status by UNESCO in 1999. Great for walkers and wildlife enthusiasts Nearby there is a picturesque cliff walk to Marwick Head, an RSPB reserve. Also experience an early 19th Century farmhouse with traditional central hearth and stone bed at nearby Kirbuster Farm Museum.
